The 110th Annual Conference on Taxation will cover a broad range of topics including, but not limited to, taxation and tax policies; expenditure policies; government budgeting; intergovernmental fiscal relations; and subnational, national, and international public finance. The conference will focus, as always, on policy-relevant research bearing on taxation and government spending.

We are pleased to announce our luncheon speakers for Philadelphia: Former Treasury Secretary and President Emeritus at Harvard, Lawrence H. Summers; and Amy Finkelstein, the John & Jennie S. MacDonald Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Also on the agenda, a plenary session panel discussion on tax reform with Jason Furman, Senior Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics; and a continuing education session on Housing Markets and Local Public Finance with Fernando Ferreira, Associate Professor of Real Estate and Business Economics & Policy, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

The deadline for submitting papers or sessions has passed. Decisions concerning the inclusion of papers and sessions will be announced in July 2017.

To volunteer as a potential discussant for the conference please fill out this form, where you can suggest yourself in up to three fields. Please note that suggesting yourself now does not commit you to attend the conference (although we hope to see you there).

Graduate Student Initiatives!

We are happy to announce that Carlianne Patrick and Louis Perrault of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University will run the graduate student initiatives at the Annual Conference.

NTA: The Next Generation Session
One session at the conference will consist entirely of graduate student papers. Interested students should submit full contact information, a one-page abstract, and a brief letter of nomination from a faculty mentor or advisor directly to Carlianne Patrick or Louis Perrault by July 31, 2017. In your e-mail cover letter, please indicate whether you would be interested in participating in the Graduate Student Research Forum (see below) in the event that your paper is not selected for the NTA: The Next Generation Session.

Graduate Student Research Forum
The Annual Conference will also have a student poster session that will allow students to network with other tax professionals and potential employers. Students will present their research one-on-one and in a small group setting. Interested students should submit full contact information, a one-page abstract, and a brief letter of nomination from a faculty mentor or advisor directly to Carlianne Patrick or Louis Perrault by August 31, 2017.

Papers accepted for presentation in a regular session are not eligible for either of the graduate sessions; submitted papers not accepted for a regular session may be resubmitted to either or both of the student sessions. (Authors who have submitted papers through the regular process will be informed in early July whether their paper has been accepted.)

Stay tuned for program and registration information. Please direct any questions to the program chairs at nta.philly2017@gmail.com.

See you in Philly!
